This concept of a sales funnel means that a lot of people come into the top of your funnel...but only a small percentage come out the bottom and wind up buying from you. And this isn't a bad thing...it's just how it works.

Think of it this way: Your website is a sales funnel. Think about it...lots of people come and visit your pages, articles, offers, and other content...but only a small percentage buy. Why? That's just the way it works.

It's like dating. Of all the people you've been interested in, gone out on dates with, gone steady with...how many did you actually wind up marrying? Hopefully, just one! Again, that's just how it works.

This concept of a sales funnel really began in the world of direct marketing...way, way back in the 40s and 50s and even earlier. Here's how it used to work: A business or marketer would place an ad in a magazine or newspaper offering readers a free report.

When readers would write in for this report, the company would send out the report, along with a sales pitch...or maybe an offer for further free content...which would then come with an offer of some kind. Most people wouldn't buy...but enough would to make the whole thing worthwhile.

And the same process works online -- you can use this exact formula for your online business.
